[우리말성경]제8장

1.  누가 지혜로운 사람 같겠는가? 누가 사물의 이치를 알겠는가? 지혜는 사람의 얼굴을 빛나게 하고 굳은 표정을 바꾸어 준다.

왕에게 순종하라

2.  내가 충고하는데 왕의 명령을 지키고 하나님 앞에서 서원한 것을 지켜라.

3.  왕 앞에서 서둘러 물러나오지 말고 그가 싫어할 일에 동조하지 마라. 악한 일에 끼어들지 마라. 왕은 무엇이든 자기 좋을 대로 하기 때문이다.

4.  왕의 말은 막강하니 누가 그에게 “당신이 무엇을 하십니까?” 하고 말하겠는가?

5.  왕의 명령을 지키는 사람은 누구든 해를 받지 않을 것이다. 지혜로운 사람의 마음은 언제 어떻게 행동할지 분별한다.

6.  모든 일에 시기와 방법이 있으니 사람의 불행이 그에게 크다.

7.  미래를 아는 사람은 없다. 무슨 일이 일어날지 누가 말해 줄 수 있겠는가?

8.  바람을 다스려 바람을 막아서게 할 사람이 없듯이 죽음의 날에 힘을 쓸 수 있는 사람도 없다. 전쟁을 모면할 길도 없고 악조차도 악에 내던져진 사람들을 건져내지 못한다.

9.  내가 이 모든 것을 보았고 해 아래에서 일어난 모든 일에 내 마음을 바쳐 보았다. 사람이 사람을 다스리다가 해를 입는 때도 있다.

10.  나는 악한 사람들이 무덤에 묻히는 것을 보았는데 그들이 성소로부터 왔다가 갔으나 그들은 그처럼 행했던 도성에서 잊혀졌다. 이것 또한 얼마나 허무한가!

11.  악한 일에 대해 판결이 빠르게 집행되지 않으면 사람들은 악한 짓을 저지르려는 마음으로 가득 차게 된다.

12.  죄인은 악을 100번 저지르고도 오래 살기도 한다. 그러나 하나님을 경외하는 사람들, 하나님 앞에 두려워할 줄 아는 사람들은 잘될 것이라는 것을 내가 분명히 안다.

13.  그러나 악인들은 하나님을 경외하지 않기 때문에 잘되지 않을 것이고 오래 살지도 못할 것이며 그림자처럼 살다가 갈 것이다.

14.  세상에서 일어나는 허무한 일이 또 있으니 악인이 받아야 할 것을 의인들이 받고 의인들이 받아야 할 것을 악인들이 받는 것이다. 이것 또한 내가 보기에 허무한 일이다.

15.  그러므로 나는 인생을 즐거워하라고 권한다. 사람이 먹고 마시고 즐거워하는 것보다 해 아래에서 더 좋은 것이 없기 때문이다. 하나님께서 해 아래에서 사람에게 주신 생애의 날들 동안 그가 수고하는 가운데 이것은 항상 함께 있을 것이다.

16.  나는 마음을 바쳐 지혜를 알고 세상에서 일어나는 일을 보려고 했다. (밤낮 잠을 못 이루는 때도 있었다.)

17.  그때 나는 하나님께서 하시는 모든 일, 곧 해 아래에서 일어나는 일들을 사람이 알 수 없다는 것을 알았다. 아무리 애써도 사람은 알 수 없다. 지혜로운 사람이 자기는 안다고 주장해도 실은 그도 그것을 알 능력이 없는 것이다.

[NASB]제8장

1.  Who is like the wise man and who knows the interpretation of a matter? A man's wisdom illumines him and causes his stern face to beam.

2.  I say, "Keep the command of the king because of the oath before God.

3.  "Do not be in a hurry to leave him. Do not join in an evil matter, for he will do whatever he pleases."

4.  Since the word of the king is authoritative, who will say to him, "What are you doing?"

5.  He who keeps a [royal] command experiences no trouble, for a wise heart knows the proper time and procedure.

6.  For there is a proper time and procedure for every delight, when a man's trouble is heavy upon him.

7.  If no one knows what will happen, who can tell him when it will happen?

8.  No man has authority to restrain the wind with the wind, or authority over the day of death; and there is no discharge in the time of war, and evil will not deliver those who practice it.

9.  All this I have seen and applied my mind to every deed that has been done under the sun wherein a man has exercised authority over [another] man to his hurt.

10.  So then, I have seen the wicked buried, those who used to go in and out from the holy place, and they are [soon] forgotten in the city where they did thus. This too is futility.

11.  Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed quickly, therefore the hearts of the sons of men among them are given fully to do evil.

12.  Although a sinner does evil a hundred [times] and may lengthen his [ life,] still I know that it will be well for those who fear God, who fear Him openly.

13.  But it will not be well for the evil man and he will not lengthen his days like a shadow, because he does not fear God.

14.  There is futility which is done on the earth, that is, there are righteous men to whom it happens according to the deeds of the wicked. On the other hand, there are evil men to whom it happens according to the deeds of the righteous. I say that this too is futility.

15.  So I commended pleasure, for there is nothing good for a man under the sun except to eat and to drink and to be merry, and this will stand by him in his toils [throughout] the days of his life which God has given him under the sun.

16.  When I gave my heart to know wisdom and to see the task which has been done on the earth (even though one should never sleep day or night),

17.  and I saw every work of God, [I concluded] that man cannot discover the work which has been done under the sun. Even though man should seek laboriously, he will not discover; and though the wise man should say, " I know, "he cannot discover.

[히브리어]제8장

1.  מי כהחכם ומי יודע פשר דבר חכמת אדם תאיר פניו ועז פניו ישנא׃

2.  אני פי מלך שמור ועל דברת שבועת אלהים׃

3.  אל תבהל מפניו תלך אל תעמד בדבר רע כי כל אשר יחפץ יעשה׃

4.  באשר דבר מלך שלטון ומי יאמר לו מה תעשה׃

5.  שומר מצוה לא ידע דבר רע ועת ומשפט ידע לב חכם׃

6.  כי לכל חפץ יש עת ומשפט כי רעת האדם רבה עליו׃

7.  כי איננו ידע מה שיהיה כי כאשר יהיה מי יגיד לו׃

8.  אין אדם שליט ברוח לכלוא את הרוח ואין שלטון ביום המות ואין משלחת במלחמה ולא ימלט רשע את בעליו׃

9.  את כל זה ראיתי ונתון את לבי לכל מעשה אשר נעשה תחת השמש עת אשר שלט האדם באדם לרע לו׃

10.  ובכן ראיתי רשעים קברים ובאו וממקום קדוש יהלכו וישתכחו בעיר אשר כן עשו גם זה הבל׃

11.  אשר אין נעשה פתגם מעשה הרעה מהרה על כן מלא לב בני האדם בהם לעשות רע׃

12.  אשר חטא עשה רע מאת ומאריך לו כי גם יודע אני אשר יהיה טוב ליראי האלהים אשר ייראו מלפניו׃

13.  וטוב לא יהיה לרשע ולא יאריך ימים כצל אשר איננו ירא מלפני אלהים׃

14.  יש הבל אשר נעשה על הארץ אשר יש צדיקים אשר מגיע אלהם כמעשה הרשעים ויש רשעים שמגיע אלהם כמעשה הצדיקים אמרתי שגם זה הבל׃

15.  ושבחתי אני את השמחה אשר אין טוב לאדם תחת השמש כי אם לאכול ולשתות ולשמוח והוא ילונו בעמלו ימי חייו אשר נתן לו האלהים תחת השמש׃

16.  כאשר נתתי את לבי לדעת חכמה ולראות את הענין אשר נעשה על הארץ כי גם ביום ובלילה שנה בעיניו איננו ראה׃

17.  וראיתי את כל מעשה האלהים כי לא יוכל האדם למצוא את המעשה אשר נעשה תחת השמש בשל אשר יעמל האדם לבקש ולא ימצא וגם אם יאמר החכם לדעת לא יוכל למצא׃
