November 5 "No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper" (Isaiah 54: 17). Today is notable in English history for three great deliverance wrought by God for us. The first, in 1588, was the total destruction of the Spanish Armada by the breath of the Almighty. In 1605, on this day, the plot to destroy the House of Parliament was discovered. Today is also the anniversary of the landing of King William III at Torbay. Religious liberty was secured in 1688. This day ought to be celebrated by the songs of saints.
