1 When Mordecai learned of all that had been done, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and ashes, and went out into the city, wailing loudly and bitterly. 2 But he went only as far as the king's gate, because no one clothed in sackcloth was allowed to enter it. 3 In every province to which the edict and order of the king came, there was great mourning among the Jews, with fasting, weeping and wailing. Many lay in sackcloth and ashes. 4 When Esther's maids and eunuchs came and told her about Mordecai, she was in great distress. She sent clothes for him to put on instead of his sackcloth, but he would not acc...

Proverbs 10 Christian Standard Bible A Collection of Solomon’s Proverbs 10 Solomon’s proverbs: A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son, heartache to his mother. 2 Ill-gotten gains do not profit anyone, but righteousness rescues from death. 3 The Lord will not let the righteous go hungry, but he denies the wicked what they crave. 4 Idle hands make one poor, but diligent hands bring riches. 5 The son who gathers during summer is prudent; the son who sleeps during harvest is disgraceful. 6 Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. 7 The remembrance of the righteous is a blessing, but the name of the wicked will rot. 8 A wise heart accepts commands, but foolish lips will be destroyed. 9 The one who lives with integrity lives securely, but whoever perverts his ways will be found out. 10 A sly wink of the eye causes grief, and foolish lips will be destroyed. 11 The mouth of the righteous is a ...

Philippians 3 Christian Standard Bible Knowing Christ 3 In addition, my brothers and sisters, rejoice in the Lord. To write to you again about this is no trouble for me and is a safeguard for you. 2 Watch out for the dogs, watch out for the evil workers, watch out for those who mutilate the flesh. 3 For we are the circumcision, the ones who worship by the Spirit of God, boast in Christ Jesus, and do not put confidence in the flesh— 4 although I have reasons for confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he has grounds for confidence in the flesh, I have more: 5 circumcised the eighth day; of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew born of Hebrews; regarding the law, a Pharisee; 6 regarding zeal, persecuting the church; regarding the righteousness that is in the law, blameless. 7 But everything that was a gain to me, I have considered to be a loss because of Christ. 8 More than that, I also consider everything to be a loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing...

Philippians 4 Christian Standard Bible 4 So then, my dearly loved and longed for brothers and sisters, my joy and crown, in this manner stand firm in the Lord, dear friends. Practical Counsel 2 I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to agree in the Lord. 3 Yes, I also ask you, true partner,[a] to help these women who have contended for the gospel at my side, along with Clement and the rest of my coworkers whose names are in the book of life. 4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your graciousness[b] be known to everyone. The Lord is near. 6 Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally[c] brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence ...

Proverbs 12 Christian Standard Bible 12 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but one who hates correction is stupid. 2 One who is good obtains favor from the Lord, but he condemns a person who schemes. 3 No one can be made secure by wickedness, but the root of the righteous is immovable. 4 A wife of noble character[a] is her husband’s crown, but a wife who causes shame is like rottenness in his bones. 5 The thoughts of the righteous are just, but guidance from the wicked is deceitful. 6 The words of the wicked are a deadly ambush, but the speech of the upright rescues them. 7 The wicked are overthrown and perish, but the house of the righteous will stand. 8 A man is praised for his insight, but a twisted mind is despised. 9 Better to be disregarded, yet have a servant, than to act important but have no food. 10 The righteous cares about his animal’s health, but even the merciful acts of the wicked are cruel. 11 The one who works his land will have...

Ephesians 2 Christian Standard Bible From Death to Life 2 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins 2 in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit now working in the disobedient.[a] 3 We too all previously lived among them in our fleshly desires, carrying out the inclinations of our flesh and thoughts, and we were by nature children under wrath as the others were also. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us,[b] 5 made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace! 6 He also raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might display the immeasurable riches of his grace through his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. 8 For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift— 9 not from works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are ...

창세기41:15-57 [NIV] 15 . Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I had a dream, and no one can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that when you hear a dream you can interpret it." 16 . "I cannot do it," Joseph replied to Pharaoh, "but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires." 17 . Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, "In my dream I was standing on the bank of the Nile, 18 . when out of the river there came up seven cows, fat and sleek, and they grazed among the reeds. 19 . After them, seven other cows came up--scrawny and very ugly and lean. I had never seen such ugly cows in all the land of Egypt. 20 . The lean, ugly cows ate up the seven fat cows that came up first. 21 . But even after they ate them, no one could tell that they had done so; they looked just as ugly as before. Then I woke up. 22 . "In my dreams I also saw seven heads of grain, full and good, growing on a single stalk. 23 . After them, seven other heads sprouted--withered and thin and sco...
