1 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. 1 וְיָצָא חֹטֶר מִגֵּזַע יִשָׁי וְנֵצֶר מִשָּׁרָשָׁיו יִפְרֶה׃ 2 The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him-the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD - 2 וְנָחָה עָלָיו רוּחַ יְהוָה רוּחַ חָכְמָה וּבִינָה רוּחַ עֵצָה וּגְבוּרָה רוּחַ דַּעַת וְיִרְאַת יְהוָה׃ 3 and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; 3 וַהֲרִיחֹו בְּיִרְאַת יְהוָה וְלֹא־לְמַרְאֵה עֵינָיו יִשְׁפֹּוט וְלֹא־לְמִשְׁמַע אָזְנָיו יֹוכִיחַ׃ 4 but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. 4 וְשָׁפַט בְּצֶדֶק דַּלִּים וְהֹוכִיחַ בְּמִישֹׁור לְעַנְוֵי־אָרֶץ וְהִכָּה־אֶרֶץ בְּשֵׁבֶט פִּיו וּבְרוּחַ שְׂפָתָיו יָמִית רָשָׁע׃ 5 Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist. 5 וְהָיָה צֶדֶק אֵזֹור מָתְנָיו וְהָאֱמוּנָה אֵזֹור חֲלָצָיו׃ 6 The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. 6 וְגָר זְאֵב עִם־כֶּבֶשׂ וְנָמֵר עִם־גְּדִי יִרְבָּץ וְעֵגֶל וּכְפִיר וּמְרִיא יַחְדָּו וְנַעַר קָטֹן נֹהֵג בָּם׃ 7 The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. 7 וּפָרָה וָדֹב תִּרְעֶינָה יַחְדָּו יִרְבְּצוּ יַלְדֵיהֶן וְאַרְיֵה כַּבָּקָר יֹאכַל־תֶּבֶן׃ 8 The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper's nest. 8 וְשִׁעֲשַׁע יֹונֵק עַל־חֻר פָּתֶן וְעַל מְאוּרַת צִפְעֹונִי גָּמוּל יָדֹו הָדָה׃ 9 They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea. 9 לֹא־יָרֵעוּ וְלֹא־יַשְׁחִיתוּ בְּכָל־הַר קָדְשִׁי כִּי־מָלְאָה הָאָרֶץ דֵּעָה אֶת־יְהוָה כַּמַּיִם לַיָּם מְכַסִּים׃ ף 10 In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his place of rest will be glorious. 10 וְהָיָה בַּיֹּום הַהוּא שֹׁרֶשׁ יִשַׁי אֲשֶׁר עֹמֵד לְנֵס עַמִּים אֵלָיו גֹּויִם יִדְרֹשׁוּ וְהָיְתָה מְנֻחָתֹו כָּבֹוד׃ ף 11 In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the remnant that is left of his people from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt, from Cush, from Elam, from Babylonia, from Hamath and from the islands of the sea. 11 וְהָיָה בַּיֹּום הַהוּא יֹוסִיף אֲדֹנָי שֵׁנִית יָדֹו לִקְנֹות אֶת־שְׁאָר עַמֹּו אֲשֶׁר יִשָּׁאֵר מֵאַשּׁוּר וּמִמִּצְרַיִם וּמִפַּתְרֹוס וּמִכּוּשׁ וּמֵעֵילָם וּמִשִּׁנְעָר וּמֵחֲמָת וּמֵאִיֵּי הַיָּם׃ 12 He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel; he will assemble the scattered people of Judah from the four quarters of the earth. 12 וְנָשָׂא נֵס לַגֹּויִם וְאָסַף נִדְחֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וּנְפֻצֹות יְהוּדָה יְקַבֵּץ מֵאַרְבַּע כַּנְפֹות הָאָרֶץ׃ 13 Ephraim's jealousy will vanish, and Judah's enemies will be cut off; Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah, nor Judah hostile toward Ephraim. 13 וְסָרָה קִנְאַת אֶפְרַיִם וְצֹרְרֵי יְהוּדָה יִכָּרֵתוּ אֶפְרַיִם לֹא־יְקַנֵּא אֶת־יְהוּדָה וִיהוּדָה לֹא־יָצֹר אֶת־אֶפְרָיִם׃ 14 They will swoop down on the slopes of Philistia to the west; together they will plunder the people to the east. They will lay hands on Edom and Moab, and the Ammonites will be subject to them. 14 וְעָפוּ בְכָתֵף פְּלִשְׁתִּים יָמָּה יַחְדָּו יָבֹזּוּ אֶת־בְּנֵי־קֶדֶם אֱדֹום וּמֹואָב מִשְׁלֹוח יָדָם וּבְנֵי עַמֹּון מִשְׁמַעְתָּם׃ 15 The LORD will dry up the gulf of the Egyptian sea; with a scorching wind he will sweep his hand over the Euphrates River. He will break it up into seven streams so that men can cross over in sandals. 15 וְהֶחֱרִים יְהוָה אֵת לְשֹׁון יָם־מִצְרַיִם וְהֵנִיף יָדֹו עַל־הַנָּהָר בַּעְיָם רוּחֹו וְהִכָּהוּ לְשִׁבְעָה נְחָלִים וְהִדְרִיךְ בַּנְּעָלִים׃ 16 There will be a highway for the remnant of his people that is left from Assyria, as there was for Israel when they came up from Egypt. 16 וְהָיְתָה מְסִלָּה לִשְׁאָר עַמֹּו אֲשֶׁר יִשָּׁאֵר מֵאַשּׁוּר כַּאֲשֶׁר הָיְתָה לְיִשְׂרָאֵל בְּיֹום עֲלֹתֹו מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרָיִם׃ 1. 이새의 줄기에서 한 싹이 나며 그 뿌리에서 한 가지가 자라서 열매를 맺는다. 2. 주님의 영이 그에게 내려오신다. 지혜와 총명의 영, 모략과 권능의 영, 지식과 주님을 경외하게 하는 영이 그에게 내려오시니, 3. 그는 주님을 경외하는 것을 즐거움으로 삼는다. 그는 눈에 보이는 대로만 재판하지 않으며, 귀에 들리는 대로만 판결하지 않는다. 4. 가난한 사람들을 공의로 재판하고, 세상에서 억눌린 사람들을 바르게 논죄한다. 그가 하는 말은 몽둥이가 되어 잔인한 자를 치고, 그가 내리는 선고는 사악한 자를 사형에 처한다. 5. 그는 정의로 허리를 동여매고 성실로 그의 몸의 띠를 삼는다. 6. 그 때에는, 이리가 어린 양과 함께 살며, 표범이 새끼 염소와 함께 누우며, 송아지와 새끼 사자와 살진 짐승이 함께 풀을 뜯고, 어린 아이가 그것들을 이끌고 다닌다. 7. 암소와 곰이 서로 벗이 되며, 그것들의 새끼가 함께 눕고, 사자가 소처럼 풀을 먹는다. 8. 젖먹는 아이가 독사의 구멍 곁에서 장난하고, 젖뗀 아이가 살무사의 굴에 손을 넣는다. 9. "나의 거룩한 산 모든 곳에서, 서로 해치거나 파괴하는 일이 없다." 물이 바다를 채우듯, 주님을 아는 지식이 땅에 가득하기 때문이다. 10. 그 날이 오면, 이새의 뿌리에서 한 싹이 나서, 만민의 깃발로 세워질 것이며, 민족들이 그를 찾아 모여들어서
