Job Chapter 28 אִיּוֹב

א  כִּי יֵשׁ לַכֶּסֶף מוֹצָא;    וּמָקוֹם, לַזָּהָב יָזֹקּוּ. 1 For there is a mine for silver, and a place for gold which they refine.

ב  בַּרְזֶל, מֵעָפָר יֻקָּח;    וְאֶבֶן, יָצוּק נְחוּשָׁה. 2 Iron is taken out of the dust, and brass is molten out of the stone.

ג  קֵץ, שָׂם לַחֹשֶׁךְ, וּלְכָל-תַּכְלִית, הוּא חוֹקֵר:    אֶבֶן אֹפֶל וְצַלְמָוֶת. 3 Man setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out to the furthest bound the stones of thick darkness and of the shadow of death.

ד  פָּרַץ נַחַל, מֵעִם-גָּר--הַנִּשְׁכָּחִים מִנִּי-רָגֶל;    דַּלּוּ מֵאֱנוֹשׁ נָעוּ. 4 He breaketh open a shaft away from where men sojourn; they are forgotten of the foot that passeth by; they hang afar from men, they swing to and fro.

ה  אֶרֶץ--מִמֶּנָּה יֵצֵא-לָחֶם;    וְתַחְתֶּיהָ, נֶהְפַּךְ כְּמוֹ-אֵשׁ. 5 As for the earth, out of it cometh bread, and underneath it is turned up as it were by fire.

ו  מְקוֹם-סַפִּיר אֲבָנֶיהָ;    וְעַפְרֹת זָהָב לוֹ. 6 The stones thereof are the place of sapphires, and it hath dust of gold.

ז  נָתִיב, לֹא-יְדָעוֹ עָיִט;    וְלֹא שְׁזָפַתּוּ, עֵין אַיָּה. 7 That path no bird of prey knoweth, neither hath the falcon's eye seen it;

ח  לֹא-הִדְרִיכוּהוּ בְנֵי-שָׁחַץ;    לֹא-עָדָה עָלָיו שָׁחַל. 8 The proud beasts have not trodden it, nor hath the lion passed thereby.

ט  בַּחַלָּמִישׁ, שָׁלַח יָדוֹ;    הָפַךְ מִשֹּׁרֶשׁ הָרִים. 9 He putteth forth his hand upon the flinty rock; He overturneth the mountains by the roots.

י  בַּצּוּרוֹת, יְאֹרִים בִּקֵּעַ;    וְכָל-יְקָר, רָאֲתָה עֵינוֹ. 10 He cutteth out channels among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing.

יא  מִבְּכִי, נְהָרוֹת חִבֵּשׁ;    וְתַעֲלֻמָהּ, יֹצִא אוֹר. 11 He bindeth the streams that they trickle not; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light. {P}

יב  וְהַחָכְמָה, מֵאַיִן תִּמָּצֵא;    וְאֵי זֶה, מְקוֹם בִּינָה. 12 But wisdom, where shall it be found? And where is the place of understanding?

יג  לֹא-יָדַע אֱנוֹשׁ עֶרְכָּהּ;    וְלֹא תִמָּצֵא, בְּאֶרֶץ הַחַיִּים. 13 Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.

יד  תְּהוֹם אָמַר, לֹא בִי-הִיא;    וְיָם אָמַר, אֵין עִמָּדִי. 14 The deep saith: 'It is not in me'; and the sea saith: 'It is not with me.'

טו  לֹא-יֻתַּן סְגוֹר תַּחְתֶּיהָ;    וְלֹא יִשָּׁקֵל, כֶּסֶף מְחִירָהּ. 15 It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.

טז  לֹא-תְסֻלֶּה, בְּכֶתֶם אוֹפִיר;    בְּשֹׁהַם יָקָר וְסַפִּיר. 16 It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.

יז  לֹא-יַעַרְכֶנָּה זָהָב, וּזְכוֹכִית;    וּתְמוּרָתָהּ כְּלִי-פָז. 17 Gold and glass cannot equal it; neither shall the exchange thereof be vessels of fine gold.

יח  רָאמוֹת וְגָבִישׁ, לֹא יִזָּכֵר;    וּמֶשֶׁךְ חָכְמָה, מִפְּנִינִים. 18 No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal; yea, the price of wisdom is above rubies.

יט  לֹא-יַעַרְכֶנָּה, פִּטְדַת-כּוּשׁ;    בְּכֶתֶם טָהוֹר, לֹא תְסֻלֶּה. 19 The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold.

כ  וְהַחָכְמָה, מֵאַיִן תָּבוֹא;    וְאֵי זֶה, מְקוֹם בִּינָה. 20 Whence then cometh wisdom? And where is the place of understanding?

כא  וְנֶעֶלְמָה, מֵעֵינֵי כָל-חָי;    וּמֵעוֹף הַשָּׁמַיִם נִסְתָּרָה. 21 Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.

כב  אֲבַדּוֹן וָמָוֶת, אָמְרוּ;    בְּאָזְנֵינוּ, שָׁמַעְנוּ שִׁמְעָהּ. 22 Destruction and Death say: 'We have heard a rumor thereof with our ears.'

כג  אֱלֹהִים, הֵבִין דַּרְכָּהּ;    וְהוּא, יָדַע אֶת-מְקוֹמָהּ. 23 God understandeth the way thereof, and He knoweth the place thereof.

כד  כִּי-הוּא, לִקְצוֹת-הָאָרֶץ יַבִּיט;    תַּחַת כָּל-הַשָּׁמַיִם יִרְאֶה. 24 For He looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;

כה  לַעֲשׂוֹת לָרוּחַ מִשְׁקָל;    וּמַיִם, תִּכֵּן בְּמִדָּה. 25 When He maketh a weight for the wind, and meteth out the waters by measure.

כו  בַּעֲשֹׂתוֹ לַמָּטָר חֹק;    וְדֶרֶךְ, לַחֲזִיז קֹלוֹת. 26 When He made a decree for the rain, and a way for the storm of thunders;

כז  אָז רָאָהּ, וַיְסַפְּרָהּ;    הֱכִינָהּ, וְגַם-חֲקָרָהּ. 27 Then did He see it, and declare it; He established it, yea, and searched it out.

כח  וַיֹּאמֶר, לָאָדָם--הֵן יִרְאַת אֲדֹנָי, הִיא חָכְמָה;    וְסוּר מֵרָע בִּינָה. 28 And unto man He said: 'Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.'

1"은을 캐내는 광맥이 있고, 금을 다듬는 제련소가 있지 않나? 2철은 땅 속에서 캐내고 구리는 광석을 녹여 얻으며, 3사람들은 어둠을 헤쳐 캄캄한 곳에서 광석을 찾지. 4사람이 살지 않는 먼 곳에 깊이 갱도를 파고 그 속에서 혼자 줄에 매달려 이리저리 흔들리며 일을 한다네. 5먹을 것은 땅에서 나오지만 그 아래에서는 불이 땅을 녹여 버리지. 6사람들은 광석에서 사파이어와 금을 얻을 수 있네. 7그 지하의 길은 독수리도 알지 못하고, 매도 본 적이 없어. 8위엄 있는 짐승도 가 본 적이 없고, 사자도 어슬렁거린 적이 없지. 9사람들은 돌산을 깨고 산의 뿌리까지 파헤치며 10바위에 틈을 내고 그 사이에서 보물을 찾지 않나. 11사람은 댐을 만들어 물을 막고, 땅에 숨겨진 보화를 찾아 내지. 12그렇지만 지혜를 어디에서 찾을까? 총명은 어디에 있을까? 13사람은 그 가치를 알 길이 없네. 사람들이 사는 곳에서는 찾을 수가 없다네. 14대양이 말하길, '여기에 없어.' 바다가 말하길, '여기에도 없어.' 15지혜를 금으로 살 수 있겠나? 총명을 은으로 살 수 있겠나? 16지혜는 오빌의 금으로도 살 수 없네. 루비나 사파이어로도 살 수 없지. 17금이나 수정도 지혜와 비길 수 없네. 어떤 보석과도 바꿀 수가 없다네. 18산호나 수정으로 사겠다고? 지혜를 홍보석 값으로 계산할 수 있겠나? 19에티오피아에서 나는 황옥도 지혜보다 못하고, 순금 역시 그러하지. 20그런데 그런 지혜는 어디에서 나오나? 총명이 있는 곳은 어딜까? 21어떤 생물도 볼 수 없고, 공중의 새조차 볼 수 없으니. 22멸망과 사망도 '우리 귀로 지혜에 관한 소문을 들은 적은 있지'라고만 말하네. 23오직 하나님만이 지혜의 길을 아시고, 총명이 어디 있는지 아신다네. 24그분은 땅 끝까지 보시고, 하늘 아래 모든 것을 살피시기 때문이지. 25하나님은 바람의 무게도 재시고 물도 측량하신다네. 26그분은 비에게 명령하시고 천둥에게 갈 길을 지시하시네. 27그 때에 그분은 지혜를 보고, 그것을 계산하셨네. 지혜를 세우시고, 시험하셨지. 28하나님께서 사람에게 이르시길, '주님을 경외함이 지혜며 악을 떠나는 것이 총명이니라'고 하셨다네."
