Appropriating Faith

Arise ... for we have seen the land, and behold, it is very good; and are ye still? Be not slothful to go, and enter to possess the land: for God hath given it into your hands; a place where there is no want of anything that is in the earth — Judg 18:9-10

Arise! Then there is something definite for us to do. Nothing is ours unless we take it. “The children of Joseph, Manasseh and Ephraim, took their inheritance” (Joshua 16:4). “The house of Jacob shall possess their possessions” (Obad. 17). “The upright shall have good things in possession.”

We need to have appropriating faith in regard to God’s promises. We must make God’s Word our own personal possession. A child was asked once what appropriating faith was, and the answer was, “It is taking a pencil and underscoring all the me’s and mine’s and my’s in the Bible.”

Take any word you please that He has spoken and say, “That word is my word.” Put your finger on this promise and say, “It is mine.” How much of the Word has been endorsed and receipted and said “It is done.” How many promises can you subscribe and say, “Fulfilled to me.”

“Son, thou art ever with Me, and all that I have is thine.” Don’t let your inheritance go by default.

“When faith goes to market it always takes a basket.”

12월 29일 사사기 18:9-10 이르되 일어나 그들을 치러 올라가자 우리가 그 땅을 본즉 매우 좋더라 너희는 가만히 있느냐 나아가서 그 땅 얻기를 게을리하지 말라 너희가 가면 평화로운 백성을 만날 것이요 그 땅은 넓고 그곳에는 세상에 있는 것이 하나도 부족함이 없느니라 하나님이 그 땅을 너희 손에 넘겨주셨느니라 하는지라

일어나라고 합니다. 이 명령은 우리의 능동적인 행동을 암시합니다. 우리가 나서서 취하지 않으면, 아무것도 우리 것이 되지 않는다는 말입니다. 요셉의 자손 므낫세와 에브라임이 그 기업을 취해서 얻었습니다(수 16:4). 야곱 족속은 자기 기업을 누릴 것이라고 했습니다(옵 17). 성실한 자가 복을 얻습니다. (잠 28:10).

우리는 하나님의 약속과 관련해서는 어떻게든 내 것으로 삼아 취하는 믿음이 필요하고, 하나님의 말씀 또한 내 것으로 삼아야 합니다. 이처럼 능동적인 믿음에 관한 질문을 받고 한 소년이 대답했습니다. "연필을 가지고 성경 말씀 칸칸이 내 것이라고 써넣는 것입니다."

여러분이 원하는 말씀을 골라서 “나를 위한 말씀” 이라고 다짐하십시오. 그분의 어떤 약속을 손가락으로 짚어 "나를 위한 약속”이라고 말하십시오. 여러분이 받아서 감사와 지지를 보낸 말씀이 얼마나 됩니까? 얼마나 많은 말씀에 대해 여러분은 “내 삶에 이루신 말씀”이라는 고백을 했습니까? 얼마나 많은 약속 아래 여러분의 이름을 써넣고 "내게 행하신 약속”이라고 확인했습니까?

"얘, 너는 항상 나와 함께 있으니 내 것이 다 네 것이로되" (눅 15:31). 그저 가만히 있다가는 여러분에게 돌아올 유산을 놓칩니다.

믿음은 언제나 큰 바구니를 들고 밖으로 나섭니다.
