"The last Adam" (1 Corinthians 15: 45).

Jesus is the head of His elect.  In Adam every heir of flesh and blood has a personal interest because Adam is the covenant head and representative of the race.  Every redeemed soul is one with the Lord since He is the Second Adam, the sponsor and substitute of the elect in the new covenant of love.  The apostle Paul declares that Levi was in the loins of Abraham when Melchizedek met him.  It is a certain truth that the believer was in Jesus Christ, the mediator, when in eternity the covenant settlements of grace were decreed, ratified, and made sure forever.  Thus, whatever Christ has done, He has done for the whole body of His Church.  We were crucified in Him and buried with Him.  (See Colossians 2: 10-13).  To make it still more wonderful, we are risen with Him and even ascended with Him to the seats on high.  (See Ephesians 2: 6).  It is thus that the Church has fulfilled the law and is accepted in the Beloved.  It is thus that she is regarded with complacency by the just Jehovah, for He views her in Jesus and does not look on her as separate from her covenant head.  As the anointed Redeemer of Israel, Christ Jesus has nothing distinct from His Church; but all that He has, He holds for her.  All that the Second Adam is or does is ours as well as His, seeing that He is our representative.  Here is the foundation of the covenant of grace.

요절 : "기록된바 첫 사람 아담은 산 영이 되었다 함과 같이 마지막 아담은 살려 주는 영이 되었나니"(고전15:45)



예수님은 그의 택하신 자들의 머리가 되십니다. 아담 안에서 모든 혈육의 후계자(계승자)는 다 아담과(영적, 육적으로) 개인적인 관련을 갖고 있습니다. 왜냐하면 아담은(성경에서 보면) 언약의 머리이고 인류의 대표이기 때문입니다.



구속받은 모든 영혼은 다 주님(예수 그리스도)과 하나입니다. 그 이유는 주님은 사랑의 새 언약 안에서 택하신 자들의 대리자이시고, 후원자(보증인)이신 두 번째 아담이기 때문입니다. 사도 바울은 멜기세덱이 아브라함을 만났을 때 레위족은 아브라함의 허리에 있었다고 선언하고 있습니다.(역자주1) 영원 전에 은혜의 언약의 결정이 영원토록 공포되고, 비준되고 확정되었을 때 모든 성도들은 중보자이신 예수 그리스도 안에(즉 예수 그리스도의 허리에) 있었다는 것은 확실한 진리입니다.



그러므로 그리스도가 이루신 것은 무엇이든지, 교회의 온몸을 위하여 이루신 것이 됩니다. 우리는 그리스도안에서 십자가에 못박혔으며 그와 함께 장사 지낸바 되었습니다.(골2:10-13) 더욱 기이한 것은 우리가 그와 함께 일으켜져서 그와 함께 하늘에 앉히셨다."는 것입니다.(엡2:6)

이렇게 교회는 율법을 완성했으며 그의 사랑하는 자 안에서 용납되었다는 것입니다. 공의로우신  여호와께서도 교회를 만족하게 여기셨습니다. 왜냐하면 그는 교회를 예수님 안에서 보시고 교회의 언약의 머리인 예수님과 분리하여 보시지 않기 때문입니다. 예수 그리스도는 이스라엘의 기름부음 받은 구속 주로서 그의 교회와 다른 것이 하나도 없습니다. 그러나 그가 갖고 있는 모든 것은 교회를 위하여 갖고 계십니다. 두 번째 아담이신 예수님의 존재나 그가 행하신 모든 것이 그의 것일 뿐만 아니라 우리의 것입니다. 그분이 우리의 대표자이신 까닭입니다. 이것이 바로 은혜의 언약의 기초입니다.
