12월 29일 스펄전 아침묵상 “여호와께서 여기까지 우리를 도우셨다.” [사무엘상 7장 12절]

December 29 "Hitherto hat the Lord helped us" (1 Samuel 7: 12). The word "hitherto" seems like a hand pointing in the direction of the past.  Twenty years or seventy years and hitherto the Lord has helped us!  Through poverty or wealth, sickness or health, at home or abroad, and in trials or triumphs the Lord has helped us!  We delight to look down a long avenue of trees.  It is pleasing to gaze from end to end of the long vista.  Even so look down the long aisles of your years, at the green boughs of mercy overhead and the strong pillars of lovingkindness and faithfulness which bear up your joys.  But the word also points forward.  For when a man gets up to a certain mark and writes "hitherto," he is not yet at the end.  There is still a distance to be traveled.  There are more trials, more joys; more temptations, more triumphs; more prayers, more answers; more toils, more strength; and more fights, more victories.  Is it over now?  No!  There is more yet--awakening in Jesus' likeness, thrones, harps, songs, psalms, white raiment, the face of Jesus, the society of saints, the glory of God, the fullness of eternity, and he infinity of bliss.  Be of good courage, believer.  He who has helped you "hitherto" will help you on your journey all the way through.   12월  29일 제목 : 여기까지 요절 : "사무엘이 돌을 취하여 미스바와 센 사이에 세워 가로되 여호와께서 여기까지 우리를 도우셨다 하고 그 이름을 에벤에셀이라 하니라"(삼상7:12) 요절(삼상7:12)에 있는 "여기까지(hitherto)"라는 말은 마치 과거를 가르치는(지시하는) 손가락같이 보입니다. 지난 20년동안 혹은 70년이 흐른 여기까지(지금까지) 여호와께서 우리를 도우셨습니다! 가난할 때나 부요 할 때나, 병들 때나 건강할 때나, 집에 있을 때나 해외에 있을 때나, 시련 중에 있을 때나 승리할 때에도 여호와는 우리를 도우셨습니다!  우리는 긴 가로수 길을 내려다 보면 마음이 즐겁습니다. 이 끝에서 저 끝까지 그 긴 조망(眺望)의 길이를 응시해보면 매우 기분이 좋습니다. 꼭 그와 같이 이번엔 그대가 살아온 긴 세월의 인생 길을 돌아보십시오. 머리 위엔 은혜(자비)의 푸른 가지들이 덮고 있고, 그대의 인생 길 양쪽엔 그대의 인생의 기쁨을 지탱하고 있는 인자(仁慈)와 신실(信實)이란 튼튼한 가로수들이 기둥들처럼 서 있다는 사실을 알 것입니다. 그러나 "여기까지(hitherto)"라는 말은 또 과거뿐만 아니라 앞 쪽(forward)을 가르킵니다. 어떤 사람이 어떤 한계점(지점 또는 시점)에 닿아서 "여기까지"라고 말할 때에는 그는 아직 종점(끝까지)에 오지 않았다는 뜻입니다. 아직 여행해야 할 거리가 더 남아 있다는 뜻입니다. 앞 길엔 더 많은 시련, 더 많은 기쁨, 더 많은 유혹, 더 많은 정복, 더 많은 기도, 더 많은 응답, 더 많은 수고, 더 많은 힘, 그리고 더 많은 싸움, 더 많은 승리가 기다리고 있습니다.(놓여 있습니다.) 그러면 이제 그것으로 다 끝나는 것일까요? 아닙니다. 아직도 더 남아 있습니다. 즉 예수님을 닮은 모습, 보좌, 거문고, 찬송, 시의 예찬, 흰옷, 예수님의 얼굴, 성도의 무리, 하나님의 영광, 영원의 충만함, 무한한 지복(至福) 속에서 깨어나는 것입니다.(역자의견1)  성도여, 용기를 내십시오. "여기까지"그대를 도우신 주님께서 그대의 여행 길(순례의 길)이 다 끝날 때까지 그대를 도울 것입니다. 역자의견1 : 영어원문의 "he infinity of bliss"의 구절에서 "he"는 "The"의 오기(誤記)인 것 같다.
