11. 게바가 안디옥에 이르렀을 때에 책망 받을 일이 있기로 내가 그를 대면하여 책망하였노라 12. 야고보에게서 온 어떤 이들이 이르기 전에 게바가 이방인과 함께 먹다가 그들이 오매 그가 할례자들을 두려워하여 떠나 물러가매 13. 남은 유대인들도 그와 같이 외식하므로 바나바도 그들의 외식에 유혹되었느니라 14. 그러므로 나는 그들이 복음의 진리를 따라 바르게 행하지 아니함을 보고 모든 자 앞에서 게바에게 이르되 네가 유대인으로서 이방인을 따르고 유대인답게 살지 아니하면서 어찌하여 억지로 이방인을 유대인답게 살게 하려느냐 하였노라 15. 우리는 본래 유대인이요 이방 죄인이 아니로되 16. 사람이 의롭게 되는 것은 율법의 행위로 말미암음이 아니요 오직 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로 말미암는 줄 알므로 우리도 그리스도 예수를 믿나니 이는 우리가 율법의 행위로써가 아니고 그리스도를 믿음으로써 의롭다 함을 얻으려 함이라 율법의 행위로써는 의롭다 함을 얻을 육체가 없느니라 [NIV] 11. When Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he was clearly in the wrong. 12. Before certain men came from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles. But when they arrived, he began to draw back and separate himself from the Gentiles because he was afraid of those who belonged to the circumcision group. 13. The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy, so that by their hypocrisy even Barnabas was led astray. 14. When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter in front of them all, "You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs? 15. "We who are Jews by birth and not 'Gentile sinners' 16. know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified. [KJV] 11. But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. 12. For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision. 13. And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation. 14. But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews? 15. We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, 16. Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. [현대인의성경] 11. 그런데 베드로가 안디옥에 왔을 때 그가 잘못한 일이 있었으므로 나는 여러 사람 앞에서 그를 책망하였습니다. 12. 그것은 그가 이방인과 함께 음식을 먹다가 야고보가 보낸 유대인 몇 사람이 들어오는 것을 보고 겁이 나서 나가 버린 일이었습니다. 13. 그러자 다른 유대인들도 안 먹은 체하며 밖으로 나갔고 바나바까지도 그들의 위선에 유혹을 받았습니다. 14. 그래서 나는 그들이 기쁜 소식의 진리대로 바로 살지 않는 것을 보고 모든 사람 앞에서 베드로에게 '유대인인 당신이 이방인처럼 살면서 어떻게 이방인에게는 유대인답게 살라고 할 수 있습니까?' 하고 책망했습니다. 15. 우리는 날 때부터 유대인이지 소위 말하는 '이방 죄인'이 아닙니다. 16. 그러나 우리는 사람이 율법을 지켜서 의롭게 되는 것이 아니라 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로 의롭게 된다는 것을 알기 때문에 우리도 그렇게 되려고 예수 그리스도를 믿고 있습니다. 그 누구도 율법을 지켜서 의롭게 될 사람은 없습니다. For prior to the coming of certain men from James, he used to eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he began to withdraw and hold himself aloof, fearing the party of the circumcision. 13. The rest of the Jews joined him in hypocrisy, with the result that even Barnabas was carried away by their hypocrisy. 14. But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in the presence of all, "If you, being a Jew, live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how is it that you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews? 15. "We are Jews by nature and not sinners from among the Gentiles; 16. nevertheless knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the Law but through faith in Christ Jesus, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the Law; since by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified.
