183문: 누구를 위하여 우리는 기도해야 합니까?

답: 우리는 지상에 있는 그리스도의 전체 교회를 위하여 관원들과 사역자들을 위하여 우리 자신과 우리 형제들, 또한 우리 원수를 위하여 그리고 현재 살아 있는 사람들과 앞으로 살아갈 모든 사람을 위하여 기도해야 합니다. 그러나 죽은 자들과 사망에 이르는 죄를 범한 것으로 드러난 사람들을 위하여 기도해서는 안 됩니다.

Q. 183. For whom should we pray?

A. We should pray for the entire church of Christ on earth,1 for civil authorities2 and ministers,3 for ourselves4 and fellow believers,5 and, yes, for our enemies.6 We should pray for all humans who are alive,7 and those who are going to live in the future.8 But we should not pray for the dead9 or for those who are known to have sinned the sin that leads to death.10

16. If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that he should pray about that.
