[우리말성경]제17장
1. “너희 하나님 여호와께 제물을 드리되 흠이나 결점이 있는 소나 양을 드리지 말라. 이는 여호와께 가증한 것이다.
2. 만약 여호와께서 너희에게 주시는 어느 성에서 너희 가운데 사는 남자나 여자가 너희 하나님 여호와의 눈앞에서 그분의 언약을 깨뜨려 악을 행했음이 밝혀지고
3. 내 명령과 달리 다른 신들을 섬겨 절하거나 해, 달, 하늘의 별들에게 절했는데
4. 그것을 너희가 알게 되었다면 너희는 그것을 자세히 조사하라. 만약 사실이어서 그 가증한 짓거리가 이스라엘에서 일어났음이 증명되면
5. 악한 짓을 저지른 그 남자나 여자를 너희 성문으로 데려가 돌로 쳐 죽이라.
6. 두세 사람의 증언으로 그 사람을 죽이고 한 사람의 증언으로는 그 사람을 죽일 수 없다.
7. 그들을 죽일 때 그 증인들이 먼저 손을 대고 그 다음에 온 백성이 손을 대라. 이같이 해 너희 가운데서 악을 없애라.”
법정에서 지킬 일
8. “만약 너희가 판결하기 어려운 사건이 너희 법정에 올라오면 피 흘린 일이든지 소송이든지 구타한 일이든지 간에 그 사건을 너희 하나님 여호와께서 선택하신 그 장소로 가져오라.
9. 레위 사람들인 제사장들과 그때 업무를 담당하고 있는 재판관에게로 가라. 그들에게 물으면 그들이 판결을 내려 줄 것이다.
10. 너희는 여호와께서 선택하신 그 장소에서 그들이 너희에게 주는 그 결정에 따라 행동하라. 또 너는 그들이 네게 알려 주는 모든 것대로 지켜 행하라.
11. 그들이 너희에게 가르치는 법도와 그들이 너희에게 주는 결정대로 행동하라. 그들이 너희에게 한 말에서 오른쪽이나 왼쪽으로 벗어나지 말라.
12. 재판관이나 너희 하나님 여호와 앞에서 섬기고 있는 제사장을 무시하는 사람은 죽임을 당할 것이다. 너희는 이스라엘에서 그런 악한 사람들을 제거하라.
13. 모든 백성들이 듣고 두려워해 다시는 교만한 마음을 품지 않을 것이다.”
왕에 대한 규례
14. “너희 하나님 여호와께서 너희에게 주시는 그 땅으로 들어가 차지하고 거기 정착하면서 너희가 ‘우리 주변 모든 민족들처럼 우리도 왕을 세우자’고 말할 때
15. 너희 하나님 여호와가 선택하는 왕을 너희를 다스릴 왕으로 세워야 한다. 너희 형제들 가운데 한 사람을 왕으로 세우고 너희 형제 이스라엘 사람이 아닌 이방 사람을 세우지 말라.
16. 왕은 자신을 위해 많은 말을 소유하지 말고 말을 더 얻으려고 이집트로 백성들을 다시 보내지 말라. 여호와께서 너희에게 ‘너희는 그 길로 다시 가지 말라’고 하셨다.
17. 왕은 많은 아내들을 두지 말라. 그래야 그의 마음이 돌아서지 않을 것이다. 왕은 또한 은과 금을 많이 모아 두지 말라.
18. 왕이 왕위에 오르게 되면 자신을 위해 레위 사람들인 제사장들이 보관하고 있던 이 율법을 두루마리 책에 기록하게 하라.
19. 이것을 항상 곁에 두어 그 평생 동안 읽어서 하나님 여호와를 경외하고 이 율법과 이 규례의 모든 말씀을 삼가 지키는 것을 배우고
20. 자기 형제를 업신여기거나 율법에서 오른쪽이나 왼쪽으로 치우치는 일이 없게 하라. 그러면 그와 그의 자손들이 이스라엘에서 자기 왕권을 오랫동안 유지할 수 있을 것이다.”
[NIV]제17장
1. Do not sacrifice to the LORD your God an ox or a sheep that has any defect or flaw in it, for that would be detestable to him.
2. If a man or woman living among you in one of the towns the LORD gives you is found doing evil in the eyes of the LORD your God in violation of his covenant,
3. and contrary to my command has worshiped other gods, bowing down to them or to the sun or the moon or the stars of the sky,
4. and this has been brought to your attention, then you must investigate it thoroughly. If it is true and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done in Israel,
5. take the man or woman who has done this evil deed to your city gate and stone that person to death.
6. On the testimony of two or three witnesses a man shall be put to death, but no one shall be put to death on the testimony of only one witness.
7. The hands of the witnesses must be the first in putting him to death, and then the hands of all the people. You must purge the evil from among you.
8. If cases come before your courts that are too difficult for you to judge -- whether bloodshed, lawsuits or assaults -- take them to the place the LORD your God will choose.
9. Go to the priests, who are Levites, and to the judge who is in office at that time. Inquire of them and they will give you the verdict.
10. You must act according to the decisions they give you at the place the LORD will choose. Be careful to do everything they direct you to do.
11. Act according to the law they teach you and the decisions they give you. Do not turn aside from what they tell you, to the right or to the left.
12. The man who shows contempt for the judge or for the priest who stands ministering there to the LORD your God must be put to death. You must purge the evil from Israel.
13. All the people will hear and be afraid, and will not be contemptuous again.
14. When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you and have taken possession of it and settled in it, and you say, "Let us set a king over us like all the nations around us,"
15. be sure to appoint over you the king the LORD your God chooses. He must be from among your own brothers. Do not place a foreigner over you, one who is not a brother Israelite.
16. The king, moreover, must not acquire great numbers of horses for himself or make the people return to Egypt to get more of them, for the LORD has told you, "You are not to go back that way again."
17. He must not take many wives, or his heart will be led astray. He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold.
18. When he takes the throne of his kingdom, he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law, taken from that of the priests, who are Levites.
19. It is to be with him, and he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to revere the LORD his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees
20. and not consider himself better than his brothers and turn from the law to the right or to the left. Then he and his descendants will reign a long time over his kingdom in Israel.
[히브리어]제17장
1. לא תזבח ליהוה אלהיך שור ושה אשר יהיה בו מום כל דבר רע כי תועבת יהוה אלהיך הוא׃
2. כי ימצא בקרבך באחד שעריך אשר יהוה אלהיך נתן לך איש או אשה אשר יעשה את הרע בעיני יהוה אלהיך לעבר בריתו׃
3. וילך ויעבד אלהים אחרים וישתחו להם ולשמש או לירח או לכל צבא השמים אשר לא צויתי׃
4. והגד לך ושמעת ודרשת היטב והנה אמת נכון הדבר נעשתה התועבה הזאת בישראל׃
5. והוצאת את האיש ההוא או את האשה ההוא אשר עשו את הדבר הרע הזה אל שעריך את האיש או את האשה וסקלתם באבנים ומתו׃
6. על פי שנים עדים או שלשה עדים יומת המת לא יומת על פי עד אחד׃
7. יד העדים תהיה בו בראשנה להמיתו ויד כל העם באחרנה ובערת הרע מקרבך׃
8. כי יפלא ממך דבר למשפט בין דם לדם בין דין לדין ובין נגע לנגע דברי ריבת בשעריך וקמת ועלית אל המקום אשר יבחר יהוה אלהיך בו׃
9. ובאת אל הכהנים הלוים ואל השפט אשר יהיה בימים ההם ודרשת והגידו לך את דבר המשפט׃
10. ועשית על פי הדבר אשר יגידו לך מן המקום ההוא אשר יבחר יהוה ושמרת לעשות ככל אשר יורוך׃
11. על פי התורה אשר יורוך ועל המשפט אשר יאמרו לך תעשה לא תסור מן הדבר אשר יגידו לך ימין ושמאל׃
12. והאיש אשר יעשה בזדון לבלתי שמע אל הכהן העמד לשרת שם את יהוה אלהיך או אל השפט ומת האיש ההוא ובערת הרע מישראל׃
13. וכל העם ישמעו ויראו ולא יזידון עוד׃
14. כי תבא אל הארץ אשר יהוה אלהיך נתן לך וירשתה וישבתה בה ואמרת אשימה עלי מלך ככל הגוים אשר סביבתי׃
15. שום תשים עליך מלך אשר יבחר יהוה אלהיך בו מקרב אחיך תשים עליך מלך לא תוכל לתת עליך איש נכרי אשר לא אחיך הוא׃
16. רק לא ירבה לו סוסים ולא ישיב את העם מצרימה למען הרבות סוס ויהוה אמר לכם לא תספון לשוב בדרך הזה עוד׃
17. ולא ירבה לו נשים ולא יסור לבבו וכסף וזהב לא ירבה לו מאד׃
18. והיה כשבתו על כסא ממלכתו וכתב לו את משנה התורה הזאת על ספר מלפני הכהנים הלוים׃
19. והיתה עמו וקרא בו כל ימי חייו למען ילמד ליראה את יהוה אלהיו לשמר את כל דברי התורה הזאת ואת החקים האלה לעשתם׃
20. לבלתי רום לבבו מאחיו ולבלתי סור מן המצוה ימין ושמאול למען יאריך ימים על ממלכתו הוא ובניו בקרב ישראל׃
