14:1 여러분은 주님의 자녀들입니다. 그러므로 여러분은 죽은 사람을 애도한다는 이유로, 몸에 상처를 내거나 앞머리를 미는 일이 있어서는 안 됩니다.

14:2 주께서는 여러분을 자신의 거룩한 백성으로 뽑으셨습니다. 주께서는 지상에 있는 모든 백성들 가운데서 여러분을 선택하셔서, 주님의 소중한 백성으로 삼으셨습니다.

14:3 ○ 여러분은 주께서 부정하게 여기시는 것들을 먹지 말아야 합니다.

14:4 여러분이 먹어도 되는 짐승들은 소, 양, 염소,

14:5 사슴, 노루, 꽃사슴, 들염소, 영양, 산양 등입니다.

14:6 굽이 두 쪽으로 갈라졌으면서 새김질을 하는 짐승은 잡아먹어도 됩니다.

14:7 그러나 새김질만 하고 굽이 갈라지지 않았거나, 또는 굽만 갈라지고 새김질을 하지 않는 짐승은 잡아먹으면 안 됩니다. 낙타, 토끼, 오소리 등은 새김질을 하지만 굽이 갈라지지 않았기 때문에 부정한 짐승입니다.

14:8 돼지는 굽이 갈라졌지만 새김질을 하지 않기 때문에 역시 부정한 짐승입니다. 그러므로 돼지고기를 먹지 말고, 돼지의 주검도 만지지 말아야 합니다.

14:9 ○ 물속에 사는 것들 가운데서는 지느러미와 비늘을 모두 갖고 있는 것들은 무엇이든 먹을 수 있습니다.

14:10 그러나 지느러미 또는 비늘이 없는 것들은 무엇이든 부정한 것이니, 여러분은 먹어서는 안 됩니다.

14:11 ○ 정결한 날짐승은 모두 먹을 수 있습니다.

14:12 하지만 여러분이 먹어서는 안 되는 부정한 새 종류는 다음과 같습니다. 독수리, 솔개, 검은솔개,

14:13 매, 새매,

14:14 까마귀 종류,

14:15 타조, 올빼미, 갈매기, 각종 매 종류,

14:16 부엉이, 따오기, 백조,

14:17 사다새, 흰독수리, 가마우지,

14:18 고니, 각종 푸른해오라기, 오디새, 박쥐 등입니다.

14:19 ○ 날기도 하고 기어 다니기도 하는 곤충들은 부정한 것이므로 먹어서는 안 됩니다.

14:20 그러나 정결한 곤충들은 먹어도 됩니다.

14:21 ○ 여러분은 이미 죽은 채로 발견된 짐승의 고기를 먹어서는 안 됩니다. 그런 것은 여러분의 마을에 함께 사는 외국인에게 주거나 또는 다른 나라 사람들에게 팔 수는 있습니다. 그러나 여러분은 주께서 선택하신 거룩한 백성이므로 그런 죽은 짐승의 고기를 먹어서는 안 됩니다. 또 여러분은 염소 새끼를 제 어미의 젖에 삶아 먹어서도 안 됩니다.

14:22 ○ 여러분은 해마다 밭에서 거둔 것 중 10분의 1을 바쳐야 합니다.

14:23 곡식과 포도즙과 기름 중에서 10분의 1을 떼어, 소와 양의 첫 새끼와 함께, 하나님께서 자신의 이름을 두실 성소로 가지고 가서, 그것을 주님 앞에서 나누어 먹으십시오. 그럼으로써 언제나 여러분의 하나님께 순종하는 법을 배워야 합니다.

14:24 그러나 주의 성소가 여러분의 집에서 너무 멀리 떨어져 있고, 또 주께서 풍성한 소출을 거두게 하셔서 십일조를 모두 성소에까지 가지고 가기가 어려운 경우에는,

14:25 그것을 돈으로 바꾸어서 가지고 갈 수 있습니다.

14:26 그래서 하나님께서 택하신 성소로 가서, 그 돈으로 여러분이 원하는 것을 사도록 하십시오. 소, 양, 포도주, 독주 등 어떤 것이든 여러분이 원하는 것을 사서, 하나님 앞에서 가족과 함께 즐겁게 먹도록 하십시오.

14:27 여러분의 마을에서 여러분과 함께 사는 레위인들을 소홀히 대접하는 일이 없어야 합니다. 그들은 여러분과는 달리 자기 몫으로 유산을 받은 사람들이 아닙니다.

14:28 ○ 여러분은 3년에 한 번씩은 그해 수확의 모든 10분의 1을 모아서 마을 창고에 쌓아 두었다가,

14:29 여러분과는 달리 토지를 나누어 받지 못한 레위인들이나, 여러분의 마을에 함께 사는 외국인들, 그리고 고아와 과부들에게 나누어 주도록 하십시오. 그렇게 하면, 여러분의 하나님께서 여러분이 하시는 모든 일에 복을 내려주실 것입니다.

1You are the children of the LORD your God. Do not cut yourselves or shave the front of your heads for the dead, 2for you are a people holy to the LORD your God. Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the LORD has chosen you to be his treasured possession. 3Do not eat any detestable thing. 4These are the animals you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat, 5the deer, the gazelle, the roe deer, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope and the mountain sheep. 6You may eat any animal that has a split hoof divided in two and that chews the cud. 7However, of those that chew the cud or that have a split hoof completely divided you may not eat the camel, the rabbit or the coney. Although they chew the cud, they do not have a split hoof; they are ceremonially unclean for you. 8The pig is also unclean; although it has a split hoof, it does not chew the cud. You are not to eat their meat or touch their carcasses. 9Of all the creatures living in the water, you may eat any that has fins and scales. 10But anything that does not have fins and scales you may not eat; for you it is unclean. 11You may eat any clean bird. 12But these you may not eat: the eagle, the vulture, the black vulture, 13the red kite, the black kite, any kind of falcon, 14any kind of raven, 15the horned owl, the screech owl, the gull, any kind of hawk, 16the little owl, the great owl, the white owl, 17the desert owl, the osprey, the cormorant, 18the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe and the bat. 19All flying insects that swarm are unclean to you; do not eat them. 20But any winged creature that is clean you may eat. 21Do not eat anything you find already dead. You may give it to an alien living in any of your towns, and he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner. But you are a people holy to the LORD your God. Do not cook a young goat in its mother's milk. 22Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year. 23Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the LORD your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the LORD your God always. 24But if that place is too distant and you have been blessed by the LORD your God and cannot carry your tithe (because the place where the LORD will choose to put his Name is so far away), 25then exchange your tithe for silver, and take the silver with you and go to the place the LORD your God will choose. 26Use the silver to buy whatever you like: cattle, sheep, wine or other fermented drink, or anything you wish. Then you and your household shall eat there in the presence of the LORD your God and rejoice. 27And do not neglect the Levites living in your towns, for they have no allotment or inheritance of their own. 28At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year's produce and store it in your towns, 29so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their own) and the aliens, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.
