7. 다윗이 사람을 그의 집으로 보내 다말에게 이르되 이제 네 오라버니 암논의 집으로 가서 그를 위하여 음식을 차리라 한지라
8. 다말이 그 오라버니 암논의 집에 이르매 그가 누웠더라 다말이 밀가루를 가지고 반죽하여 그가 보는 데서 과자를 만들고 그 과자를 굽고
9. 그 냄비를 가져다가 그 앞에 쏟아 놓아도 암논이 먹기를 거절하고 암논이 이르되 모든 사람을 내게서 나가게 하라 하니 다 그를 떠나 나가니라
10. 암논이 다말에게 이르되 음식물을 가지고 침실로 들어오라 내가 네 손에서 먹으리라 하니 다말이 자기가 만든 과자를 가지고 침실에 들어가 그의 오라버니 암논에게 이르러
11. 그에게 먹이려고 가까이 가지고 갈 때에 암논이 그를 붙잡고 그에게 이르되 나의 누이야 와서 나와 동침하자 하는지라
12. 그가 그에게 대답하되 아니라 내 오라버니여 나를 욕되게 하지 말라 이런 일은 이스라엘에서 마땅히 행하지 못할 것이니 이 어리석은 일을 행하지 말라
13. 내가 이 수치를 지니고 어디로 가겠느냐 너도 이스라엘에서 어리석은 자 중의 하나가 되리라 이제 청하건대 왕께 말하라 그가 나를 네게 주기를 거절하지 아니하시리라 하되
14. 암논이 그 말을 듣지 아니하고 다말보다 힘이 세므로 억지로 그와 동침하니라

7. David sent word to Tamar at the palace: "Go to the house of your brother Amnon and prepare some food for him."
8. So Tamar went to the house of her brother Amnon, who was lying down. She took some dough, kneaded it, made the bread in his sight and baked it.
9. Then she took the pan and served him the bread, but he refused to eat. "Send everyone out of here," Amnon said. So everyone left him.
10. Then Amnon said to Tamar, "Bring the food here into my bedroom so I may eat from your hand." And Tamar took the bread she had prepared and brought it to her brother Amnon in his bedroom.
11. But when she took it to him to eat, he grabbed her and said, "Come to bed with me, my sister."
12. "Don't, my brother!" she said to him. "Don't force me. Such a thing should not be done in Israel! Don't do this wicked thing.
13. What about me? Where could I get rid of my disgrace? And what about you? You would be like one of the wicked fools in Israel. Please speak to the king; he will not keep me from being married to you."
14. But he refused to listen to her, and since he was stronger than she, he raped her.

7. 다윗은 다말의 집으로 사람을 보내어서 지시하였다. "어서 네 오라비 암논의 집으로 가서, 그에게 먹을 것을 좀 만들어 주어라."

7. 그래서 다윗은 다말에게 사람을 보내 암논의 집에 가서 그를 위해 음식을 만들어 주라고 지시하였다.
8. 다말이 자기 오빠 암논의 집에 갔을 때 암논은 침대에 누워 있었다. 다말은 밀가루를 가져다가 반죽하여 자기 오빠가 보는 데서 과자를 만들어 구웠다.
9. 그러나 다말이 과자 그릇을 암논 앞에 갖다 놓아도 그는 먹을 생각을 하지 않고 모든 사람을 밖으로 나가게 하라고 소리를 질렀다. 그래서 하인들은 모두 밖으로 나갔다.
10. 그때 암논이 다말에게 '자, 이제 그 음식을 가지고 침실로 들어와서 네가 직접 먹여라.' 하였다. 그래서 다말은 과자 그릇을 들고 그의 침실로 들어갔다.
11. 그러나 다말이 음식을 먹이려고 암논에게 가까이 갔을 때 그는 다말을 붙들고 자기 자리에 들 것을 강요하였다.
12. 그러자 다말이 거절하며 말하였다. '오빠, 이게 무슨 짓이예요? 제발 이러지 마세요. 이런 일은 이스라엘에서 있을 수 없는 일이예요.
13. 내가 수치를 당한다면 어떻게 머리를 들고 다닐 수 있겠어요? 이러시면 오빠도 이스라엘에서 가장 어리석은 사람이 될 거예요. 나를 그렇게도 사랑하신다면 아버지께 말씀드리세요. 아버지께서도 내가 오빠와 결혼하는 것을 말리지 않으실 거예요'
14. 그러나 암논은 그녀의 말을 듣지 않고 다말보다 힘이 세므로 그녀를 덮쳐 강간하고 말았다.

7. Then David sent to the house for Tamar, saying, "Go now to your brother Amnon's house, and prepare food for him."
8. So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house, and he was lying down. And she took dough, kneaded it, made cakes in his sight, and baked the cakes.
9. She took the pan and dished them out before him, but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, "Have everyone go out from me." So everyone went out from him.
10. Then Amnon said to Tamar, "Bring the food into the bedroom, that I may eat from your hand." So Tamar took the cakes which she had made and brought them into the bedroom to her brother Amnon.
11. When she brought them to him to eat, he took hold of her and said to her, "Come, lie with me, my sister."
12. But she answered him, "No, my brother, do not violate me, for such a thing is not done in Israel; do not do this disgraceful thing!
13. "As for me, where could I get rid of my reproach? And as for you, you will be like one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, please speak to the king, for he will not withhold me from you."
14. However, he would not listen to her; since he was stronger than she, he violated her and lay with her.

8. 다말이 자기의 오라버니 암논의 집으로 가서 보니, 그가 침상에 누워 있었다. 다말이 밀가루를 가져다가, 이겨서, 그가 보는 앞에서 맛있는 빵 몇 개를 빚어, 잘 구웠다.
9. 그리고 다말이 냄비째 가져다가 암논 앞에서 그릇에 담아 주었으나, 암논은 먹을 생각은 하지 않고, 사람들을 다 밖으로 내보내라고 말하고는, 사람들이 모두 밖으로 나간 뒤에,
10. 다말에게 말하였다. "그 빵을 이 침실로 가지고 들어와서, 네가 손수 나에게 먹여 다오." 그래서 다말은 손수 만든 빵을 들고, 자기의 오라버니 암논의 침실로 들어갔다.
11. 다말이 그에게 먹여 주려고 다가서니, 그는 다말을 끌어안고, 함께 눕자고 하였다.
12. 다말이 그에게 말하였다. "이렇게 하지 마십시오, 오라버니! 이스라엘에는 이러한 법이 없습니다. 제발 나에게 욕을 보이지 마십시오. 제발 이런 악한 일을 저지르지 말아 주십시오.
13. 오라버니가 나에게 이렇게 하시면, 내가 이런 수치를 당하고서, 어디로 갈 수 있겠습니까? 오라버니도 또한 이스라엘에서 아주 정신 빠진 사람들 가운데 하나와 똑같이 되고 말 것입니다. 그러니 이제라도 제발 임금님께 말씀을 드려 보십시오. 나를 오라버니에게 주기를 거절하지 않으실 것입니다."
14. 다말이 이렇게까지 말하는데도, 암논은 다말이 애원하는 소리를 들으려고 하지도 않고, 오히려 더 센 힘으로 그를 눕혀서, 억지로 욕을 보였다.

7. Then David sent home to Tamar, saying, Go now to thy brother Amnon's house, and dress him meat.
8. So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house; and he was laid down. And she took flour, and kneaded it, and made cakes in his sight, and did bake the cakes.
9. And she took a pan, and poured them out before him; but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, Have out all men from me. And they went out every man from him.
10. And Amnon said unto Tamar, Bring the meat into the chamber, that I may eat of thine hand. And Tamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them into the chamber to Amnon her
