1. 형제자매 여러분, 내가 여러분에게 전한 복음을 일깨워 드립니다. 여러분은 그 복음을 전해 받았으며, 또한 그 안에 서 있습니다.
2. 내가 여러분에게 복음으로 전해드린 말씀을 헛되이 믿지 않고, 그것을 굳게 잡고 있으면, 그 복음을 통하여 여러분도 구원을 얻을 것입니다.
3. 나도 전해 받은 중요한 것을 여러분에게 전해 드렸습니다. 그것은 곧, 그리스도께서 성경대로 우리 죄를 위하여 죽으셨다는 것과,
4. 무덤에 묻히셨다는 것과, 성경대로 사흗날에 살아나셨다는 것과,
5. 게바에게 나타나시고 다음에 열두 제자에게 나타나셨다고 하는 것입니다.
6. 그 후에 그리스도께서는 한 번에 오백 명이 넘는 형제자매들에게 나타나셨는데, 그 가운데 더러는 세상을 떠났지만, 대다수는 지금도 살아 있습니다.
7. 다음에 야고보에게 나타나시고, 그 다음에 모든 사도들에게 나타나셨습니다.
8. 그런데 맨 나중에 달이 차지 못하여 난 자와 같은 나에게도 나타나셨습니다.
9. 나는 사도들 가운데서 가장 작은 사도입니다. 나는 사도라고 불릴 만한 자격도 없습니다. 그것은, 내가 하나님의 교회를 박해했기 때문입니다.
10. 그러나 나는 하나님의 은혜로 오늘의 내가 되었습니다. 나에게 베풀어주신 하나님의 은혜는 헛되지 않았습니다. 나는 사도들 가운데 어느 누구보다도 더 열심히 일하였습니다. 그러나 이렇게 한 것은 내가 아니라, 나와 함께 하신 하나님의 은혜입니다.
11. 그러므로 나나 그들이나 할 것 없이, 우리는 이렇게 전파하고 있으며, 여러분은 이렇게 믿었습니다.
12. 그리스도께서 죽은 사람 가운데서 살아나셨다고 우리가 전파하는데, 어찌하여 여러분 가운데 더러는 죽은 사람의 부활이 없다고 말합니까?
13. 죽은 사람의 부활이 없다면, 그리스도께서도 살아나지 못하셨을 것입니다.
14. 그리스도께서 살아나지 않으셨다면, 우리의 선포도 헛되고, 여러분의 믿음도 헛될 것입니다.

20. 그러나 이제 그리스도께서는 죽은 사람들 가운데서 살아나셔서, 잠든 사람들의 첫 열매가 되셨습니다.
21. 한 사람으로 말미암아 죽음이 들어왔으니, 또한 한 사람으로 말미암아 죽은 사람의 부활도 옵니다.
22. 아담 안에서 모든 사람이 죽는 것과 같이, 그리스도 안에서 모든 사람이 살아나게 될 것입니다.
23. 그러나 각각 제 차례대로 그렇게 될 것입니다. 첫째는 첫 열매이신 그리스도요, 그 다음은 그리스도께서 재림하실 때에, 그리스도께 속한 사람들입니다.
24. 그 때가 마지막입니다. 그 때에 그리스도께서 모든 통치와 모든 권위와 모든 권력을 폐하시고, 그 나라를 하나님 아버지께 넘겨드리실 것입니다.
25. 하나님께서 모든 원수를 그리스도의 발 아래에 두실 때까지, 그리스도께서 다스리셔야 합니다.
26. 맨 마지막으로 멸망 받을 원수는 죽음입니다.
27. 성경에 이르기를 "하나님께서 모든 것을 그의 발 아래에 굴복시키셨다" 하였습니다. 모든 것을 굴복시켰다고 말할 때에는, 모든 것을 그에게 굴복시키신 분은 그 가운데 들어 있지 않은 것이 명백합니다.
28. 그러나 모든 것이 하나님께 굴복 당할 그 때에는, 아들까지도 모든 것을 자기에게 굴복시키신 분에게 굴복하실 것입니다. 그래서 하나님은 만유의 주님이 되실 것입니다.
29. 죽은 사람들이 살아나지 않는다면, 죽은 사람들을 위해서 세례를 받는 사람들은 무엇 하려고 그런 일을 합니까? 죽은 사람이 정말로 살아나지 않는다면, 무엇 때문에 그들은 죽은 사람들을 위하여 세례를 받습니까?
30. 그리고 또 우리는 무엇 때문에, 시시각각으로 위험을 무릅쓰고 있습니까?
31. 형제자매 여러분, 나는 감히 단언합니다. 나는 날마다 죽습니다! 이것은, 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 여러분에게 하신 그 일로 내가 여러분을 자랑스럽게 여기는 것만큼이나 확실한 것입니다.
32. 내가 에베소에서 맹수와 싸웠다고 하더라도, 인간적인 동기에서 한 것이라면, 그것이 나에게 무슨 유익이 되겠습니까? 만일 죽은 사람이 살아나지 못한다면 "내일이면 죽을 터이니, 먹고 마시자" 할 것입니다.
33. 속지 마십시오. 나쁜 동무가 좋은 습성을 망칩니다.
34. 똑바로 정신을 차리고, 죄를 짓지 마십시오. 여러분을 부끄럽게 하려고 내가 이 말을 합니다만, 여러분 가운데서 더러는 하나님을 아는 지식이 없습니다.
35. 그러나 "죽은 사람이 어떻게 살아나며, 그들은 어떤 몸으로 옵니까?" 하고 묻는 사람이 있을 것입니다.
36. 어리석은 사람이여! 그대가 뿌리는 씨는 죽지 않고서는 살아나지 못합니다.
37. 그리고 그대가 뿌리는 것은 장차 생겨날 몸 그 자체가 아닙니다. 밀이든지 그 밖에 어떤 곡식이든지, 다만 씨앗을 뿌리는 것입니다.
38. 그러나 하나님께서는, 원하시는 대로, 그 씨앗에 몸을 주시고, 그 하나 하나의 씨앗에 각기 고유한 몸을 주십니다.
39. 모든 살이 똑같은 살은 아닙니다. 사람의 살도 있고, 짐승의 살도 있고, 새의 살도 있고, 물고기의 살도 있습니다.
40. 하늘에 속한 몸도 있고, 땅에 속한 몸도 있습니다. 하늘에 속한 몸들의 영광과 땅에 속한 몸들의 영광이 저마다 다릅니다.
41. 해의 영광이 다르고, 달의 영광이 다르고, 별들의 영광이 다릅니다. 별마다 영광이 다릅니다.
42. 죽은 사람들의 부활도 이와 같습니다. 썩을 것으로 심는데, 썩지 않을 것으로 살아납니다.
43. 비천한 것으로 심는데, 영광스러운 것으로 살아납니다. 약한 것으로 심는데, 강한 것으로 살아납니다.
44. 자연적인 몸으로 심는데, 신령한 몸으로 살아납니다. 자연적인 몸이 있으면, 신령한 몸도 있습니다.
45. 성경에 "첫 사람 아담은 산 영이 되었다"고 기록한 바와 같이, 마지막 아담은 생명을 주시는 영이 되셨습니다.
46. 그러나 신령한 것이 먼저가 아닙니다. 자연적인 것이 먼저요, 그 다음이 신령한 것입니다.
47. 첫 사람은 땅에서 났으므로 흙으로 되어 있지만, 둘째 사람은 하늘에서 났습니다.

1. Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand.
2. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
4. that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
5. and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve.
6. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.
7. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles,
8. and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.
9. For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
10. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.
11. Whether, then, it was I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed.
12. But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?
13. If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised.
14. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.
15. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised.
16. For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either.
17. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.
18. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost.
19. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.
20. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
21. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.
22. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.
23. But each in his own turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him.
24. Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power.
25. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet.
26. The last enemy to be destroyed is death.
27. For he "has put everything under his feet." Now when it says that "everything" has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ.
28. When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.
29. Now if there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them?
30. And as for us, why do we endanger ourselves every hour?
31. I die every day--I mean that, brothers--just as surely as I glory over you in Christ Jesus our Lord.
32. If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus for merely human reasons, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die."
33. Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character."
34. Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God--I say this to your shame.
35. But someone may ask, "How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?"
36. How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies.
37. When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else.
38. But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body.
39. All flesh is not the same: Men have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another.
40. There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another.
41. The sun has one kind of splendor, the moon another and the stars another; and star differs from star in splendor.
42. So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable;
43. it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power;
44. it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
45. So it is written: "The first man Adam became a living being"; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.
46. The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual.
47. The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven.
48. As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are of heaven.
49. And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven.
50. I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
51. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed--
52. in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
53. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.
54. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."
55. "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?"
56. The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
57. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58. Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
