Day 28 Morning/John Baillie, A Diary of Private Prayer/O Christ my Lord, who for my sake and my brothers and sisters did without all earthly comfort and fullness, forbid it that I should ever again live for myself. Amen.

 Let me now go forth, Lord my God, to the work of another day, still surrounded by Your wonderful lovingkindness, still pledged to Your loyal service, still standing in Your strength and not my own.

Let me today be a Christian not only in my words but also in my deeds

Let me follow bravely in the footsteps of my Master, wherever they may lead

Let me be hard and stern with myself

Let there be no self-pity or self-indulgence in my life today

Let my thinking be clear, my speech direct and open, and my action courageous and decisive.

I would pray, Lord, not only for myself but for all the household to which I belong, for all my friends and all my fellow workers, asking You to include them all in Your fatherly regard. I pray also:

for all who will today be faced by any great decision

for all who will today be engaged in settling affairs of moment in the lives of men and nations

for all who are shaping public opinion in our time

for all who write what other people read

for all who are holding high the lamp of truth in a world of ignorance and sin

for all whose hands today fall idle

for those who have no place to lay their head.

O Christ my Lord, who for my sake and my brothers and sisters did without all earthly comfort and fullness, forbid it that I should ever again live for myself. Amen.

오 주 나의 하나님,

이 시간 주님의 위대한 자비에 둘러싸여,

주님의 신실한 도움을 의지하면서, 제 능력이 아니라 주님의 권능 안에 서서

새로운 하루의 일을 감당하러 나아가게 하소서

오늘 제가 말뿐 아니라 행실에서도 그리스도인으로 살게 하소서.

어디를 가든지 내 주인의 발걸음을 용기 있게 따르게 하소서.

제 자신에 대해서는 엄격하고 단호하게 하소서.

오늘 제 삶에 자기 연민이나 자기 탐닉을 허락하지 않게 하소서.

제 사고는 예민하며, 제 말은 정직하고 대범하며, 제 행실은 용기 있고 결단력 있게 하소서.

오 주님, 저 자신뿐 아니라 제 모든 가족과 친구들과 동료들을 위해서 기도하오니,

그들을 모두 아버지의 관심의 대상으로 삼아 주옵소서.

또 오늘 어떤 큰 결단을 앞에 둔 모든 이들을 위하여,

오늘 사람들과 나라들을 위해 중요한 결정을 내려야 하는 모든 이들을 위하여,

우리 시대의 공적인 견해를 형성하고 있는 모든 이들을 위하여,

다른 사람들이 읽을 책을 쓰는 모든 이들을 위하여,

무지와 죄의 세상에 진리의 등불을 높이 들고 있는 모든 이들을 위하여,

너무 많은 수고를 감당하고 있는 모든 이들과 할 일을 찾지 못해 오늘을 그냥 보내야 하는 모든 실직자들을 위하여, 머리 둘 곳을 찾지 못한 모든 이들을 위하여 기도합니다.

저와 제 형제자매들을 위하여 이 땅의 모든 위안과 충만함을 포기하신

오 나의 주 그리스도시여,

제가 다시는 저 자신만을 위하여 살지 않도록 도와주소서.
