십계명을 주심

1.  그리고 하나님께서 이 모든 말씀을 하셨습니다.

2.  “나는 너를 이집트에서, 종살이하던 집에서 이끌어 낸 네 하나님 여호와다.

3.  너는 내 앞에서 다른 어떤 신도 없게 하여라.

4.  너는 너 자신을 위해 하늘에 있는 것이나 땅에 있는 것이나 물속에 있는 것이나 무슨 형태로든 우상을 만들지 마라.

5.  너는 그것들에게 절하거나 예배하지 마라. 네 하나님 나 여호와는 질투하는 하나님이니 나를 미워하는 자들에 대해서는 아버지의 죄를 그 자식에게 갚되 3, 4대까지 갚고

6.  나를 사랑하고 내 계명을 지키는 자들에게는 1000대까지 사랑을 베푼다.

7.  너는 네 하나님 여호와의 이름을 함부로 들먹이지 마라. 여호와는 그 이름을 헛되게 받고 함부로 들먹이는 자들을 죄 없다 하지 않으실 것이다.

8.  너는 안식일을 기억하여 거룩하게 지켜라.

9.  6일 동안은 네가 수고하며 네 일을 할 것이요

10.  일곱째 날은 네 하나님 여호와의 안식일이니 너나 네 아들딸이나 네 남녀 종들이나 네 가축들이나 네 문안에 있는 나그네나 할 것 없이 아무 일도 하지 마라.

11.  여호와가 6일 동안 하늘과 땅과 바다와 그 안에 있는 모든 것을 만들고 일곱째 날에는 쉬었기 때문이다. 그러므로 여호와가 안식일에 복을 주고 거룩하게 했다.

12.  네 부모를 공경하여라. 그러면 네 하나님 여호와가 네게 준 땅에서 네가 오래 살 것이다.

13.  살인하지 마라.

14.  간음하지 마라.

15.  도둑질하지 마라.

16.  네 이웃에 대해 위증하지 마라.

17.  네 이웃의 집을 탐내지 마라. 네 이웃의 아내나 그의 남종이나 여종이나 그의 소나 나귀나 어떤 것이라도 네 이웃의 것은 탐내지 마라.”

18.  모든 백성들은 천둥과 번개를 보고 나팔 소리를 들으며 산에 자욱한 연기를 보고는 두려워 벌벌 떨었습니다. 백성들은 멀찍이 서서

19.  모세에게 말했습니다. “당신이 직접 우리에게 말하면 우리가 듣겠습니다. 그러나 하나님께서 우리에게 말씀하시는 것은 막아 주십시오. 우리가 죽을지 모릅니다.”

20.  모세는 백성들에게 말했습니다. “두려워하지 말라. 하나님께서 너희를 시험하려고 오신 것이다. 하나님을 경외하는 마음이 너희에게 있게 해 너희가 죄짓지 않게 하시려는 것이다.”

21.  백성들은 멀찍이 서 있었고 모세는 하나님이 계시는 그 칠흑 같은 어둠 속으로 가까이 나아갔습니다.

22.  그때 여호와께서 모세에게 말씀하셨습니다. “이스라엘 백성들에게 말하여라. ‘내가 하늘에서 너희에게 말하는 것을 너희가 직접 보았으니

23.  너희는 나 외에는 어떤 다른 신도 만들지 말라. 너희를 위해 은이나 금으로 신상을 만들지 말라.

24.  나를 위해 땅의 제단을 만들고 그 위에 네 양과 소로 네 번제와 화목제를 드리라. 내가 내 이름을 기억하는 모든 곳에서 내가 네게 가서 복을 주겠다.

25.  만약 네가 나를 위해 돌 제단을 만들려면 다듬어진 돌로는 하지 마라. 네가 도구를 사용하는 것은 더럽히는 것이다.

26.  또한 내 제단의 계단을 밟고 올라서는 일이 없게 하라. 그러면 네가 그 위에서 벌거벗겨질지 모른다.’”

1.  And God spoke all these words:

2.  "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

3.  "You shall have no other gods before me.

4.  "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

5.  You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

6.  but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

7.  "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

8.  "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

9.  Six days you shall labor and do all your work,

10.  but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates.

11.  For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

12.  "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

13.  "You shall not murder.

14.  "You shall not commit adultery.

15.  "You shall not steal.

16.  "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

17.  "You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."

18.  When the people saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet and saw the mountain in smoke, they trembled with fear. They stayed at a distance

19.  and said to Moses, "Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak to us or we will die."

20.  Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning."

21.  The people remained at a distance, while Moses approached the thick darkness where God was.

22.  Then the LORD said to Moses, "Tell the Israelites this: `You have seen for yourselves that I have spoken to you from heaven:

23.  Do not make any gods to be alongside me; do not make for yourselves gods of silver or gods of gold.

24.  "`Make an altar of earth for me and sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, your sheep and goats and your cattle. Wherever I cause my name to be honored, I will come to you and bless you.

25.  If you make an altar of stones for me, do not build it with dressed stones, for you will defile it if you use a tool on it.

26.  And do not go up to my altar on steps, lest your nakedness be exposed on it.'
