11월 28일 스펄전 아침묵상 “형제들아 와서 네게 있는 진리를 증거하되 네가 진리 안에서 행한다 하니 내가 심히 기뻐하노라.”[요한3서 3절]

"For I rejoiced greatly when the the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth" (3 John 3).

The truth was in Gaius, and Gaius walked in the truth.  Truth must enter into the soul, penetrate and saturate it, or else it is of no value.  Doctrines held as a matter of creed are like bread in the hand, which ministers no nourishment to the frame.  But doctrine accepted by the heart is as food digested, which, by assimilation, sustains and builds up the body.  In us truth must be a living force, an active energy, and an indwelling reality.  If it is in us, we cannot part with it.  A man may lose his garments or his limbs, but his inward parts are vital and cannot be torn away without absolute loss of life.  A Christian can die, but he cannot deny the truth.  Now, it is a rule of nature, that the inward affects the outward.  When the truth is kindled within, its brightness soon beams forth in the outward life and conversation.  It is said that the food of certain worms colors the cocoons of silk which they spin.  The nutriment on which a man's inward nature lives colors every word and deed proceeding from him.  To walk in the truth imports a life of integrity, holiness, faithfulness, and simplicity--the natural product of those principles of truth which the gospel teaches and the Spirit of God enables us to receive.  Be it ours today, O gracious Spirit, to be ruled and governed by Your divine authority.  May nothing false or sinful reign in our hearts, lest it extend its malignant influence to our daily walk among men.

제목 : 진리 안에서

요절 : "형제들이 와서 네게 있는 진리를 증거하되 네가 진리 안에서 행한다 하니 내가 심히 기뻐하노라"(요삼1:3)

진리가 가이오 안에 있었으며 가이오는 진리 안에서 걸었습니다.(행했습니다.)  진리는 사람의 영혼 속으로 들어가야 합니다. 즉 영혼 속에 스며들어 그 영혼을 완전히 적셔야    합니다. 그렇지 않으면 그 영혼은 아무 가치가 없습니다. 단지 신조(信條)에 그친 교리들은 몸에 아무 영양분도 공급하지 않는 손 안에 있는 빵과 같습니다. 그러나 마음에 깊이 받아들인(믿는)교리는 마치 동화작용에  의하여 몸을 유지하고, 건강을 증진시키는 소화된 음식과 같습니다. 

그러므로 진리는 우리 안에서 생명력이 되고, 활동적인 에너지가 되고 내주하는(안에 있는) 정신적 실재가 되어야 합니다. 우리 몸 안에 있는 것은, 우리 몸에서 떨어져 나갈  수 없습니다. 즉 사람이 그의 옷이나 사지(손과 발)는 잃고도 살 수 있습니다. 그러나 몸 속에 있는 내부 기관들은 치명적이 여서 생명을 완전히 잃지 않고는 떨어져 나갈 수 없습니다.(즉 뜯어 낼 수 없습니다.)   그와 같이 그리스도인도 죽을 수는 있지만 진리는 부인할 수 없습니다.(즉 절대로 진리를 부인해서는 안됩니다.)   사실 안에 있는 것이 밖에 있는 것에 영향을 미치는 것이 자연의 법칙입니다. 따라서 진리가 안에서 불이 붙으면 그 광명(밝음)이 곧 외부의 생활과 대화 속에 환하게 비추는 법입니다. 어떤 벌레들의 음식이 그 벌레들이 짜는 고치 집(생사원료)의 색깔을 결정한다고 합니다.(예컨대 누에가 먹은 양식이 누에 고치의 색깔에 영향을 준다는 것입니다.)

그러므로 사람의 내적 본성이 먹고 사는 음식물(자양물)이 그 사람으로부터 나오는 모든 말과 행동의 색깔을 만들어 냅니다. 진리 안에서 행하면 완전하고, 거룩하고, 신실하고, 일편단심(Simplicity)의 삶을 살게 됩니다. 이런 것들은 복음이 가르치고 성령이  우리로 하여금 받을 수 있게 만드시는 진리의 원리들에서 나오는 당연한 산물입니다.  오, 은혜로우신 성령이여, 오늘도 우리를 성령의 권세로 다스리고 통치해 주시옵소서. 어떤 거짓이나 죄악된 것이 우리의 마음을 다스리지 못하게 하여 주옵소서. 그리고 사람들 중에 사는 우리의 날마다의 삶에 그 악의 영향이 미치지 못하게 하여 주시옵소서.
