Day 3 Evening/John Baillie, A Diary of Private Prayer/Let me approach Your presence humbly and reverently.

God most wise, most great, most holy, in wisdom and power and tender mercy You did create me in Your own image. You have given me this life to live, You have appointed my lot and determined the place of my residence, You have surrounded me with gracious and beneficial influences, You have written Your law within my heart.

And in my heart's most secret chamber You are now waiting to meet and speak with me, freely offering me Your fellowship in spite of all my sinning. Let me now use this open road to peace of mind. Let me approach Your presence humbly and reverently. Let me carry with me the spirit of my Lord and Master Jesus Christ. Let me leave behind me all anxiety, all unworthy desires, all thoughts of evil intentions towards my fellow men, all hesitancy in surrendering my will to Your.

In Your will, Lord, is my peace.

In Your love is my rest.

In Your service is my joy.

You are all my heart's desire.

Whom have I in heaven but You?

And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You.

In Your presence, God, I think not only of myself, but of others, my fellow men:

Of my friends, especially of _____ and of _____

Of those who today have worked or played with me

Of those who are in sorrow

Of those who are bearing the burdens of others

Of those who are manning difficult stations or lonely outposts of Your Kingdom.

You who are the one God and Father of us all, be near to us all tonight and graciously keep watch over our souls. Hear my prayer for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

가장 지혜로우시고 가장 위대하시고 가장 거룩하신 하나님,

주께서 지혜와 권능과 자비로우심으로 저를 창조하셨습니다.

주께서 제게 이 생명을 주셨고 제 운명을 예정하셨으며, 제 삶의 거처를 정하셨습니다.

주께서 은혜롭고 자비로운 것들로 저를 에우셨고 주의 법을 제 마음에 새겨주셨습니다.

제 모든 죄악에도 불구하고 제 마음속 가장 은밀한 곳에서 저와 만나 말씀하시고

저와 교제하시려고 기다리고 계십니다.

이제 제가 평강의 마음에 이르는 이 길을 사용할 수 있게 하옵소서.

주님의 임재 앞에 겸손히, 그리고 두렵고 떨리는 마음으로 나아가게 하옵소서.

제가 주 예수 그리스도의 영을 품고 살게 하옵소서.

모든 조바심치는 것들과 무가치한 욕망, 그리고 지체를 향한 악한 생각과

당신께 복종하기를 주저하는 마음은 모두 버리게 하옵소서.

오 주님,

저의 평강은 오직 당신의 뜻 안에 저의 안식은 당신의 사랑 안에

저의 기쁨은 당신을 향한 섬긴 안에 있습니다.

제 마음의 소원은 오직 당신 뿐입니다.

하늘에 주님 외에 누가 있으리요?

주님 외에는 제가 땅에서 갈망하는 이 없습니다.

오 하나님, 당신의 임재 안에서 생각합니다.

저뿐 아니라 제 지체들을, 제 친구들을, 오늘 저와 함께 일하거나 같이 지낸 이들을,

슬픔 가운데 있는 이들을, 지금도 힘겨운 일을 감당하고 있거나

주님 나라의 초전방을 지키고 있는 이들을 생각합니다.

홀로 하나님이시며 우리 모두의 아버지가 되시는 주님,

이 밤 내내 저희 곁에 함께 하셔서 저의 영혼을 은혜로 지켜 주옵소서.
